The commitment of the students of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for a future of renewable energies remains firm. This time it has been the students of Industrial Design Engineering of the subject Product Development Technologies who have been in charge of presenting new proposals for demonstrators that are committed to a completely sustainable future.
This initiative is part of the EduDemoS project, under the direction of Professor Pedro Hernandez and with the support of the Foundation Gerda Stetter Foundation, leader of the European project Technik macht Spaß. The project continues to promote the ideation and development of new alternatives in the field of sustainable energy from the classroom. On this occasion, the students had to meet strict requirements in terms of size, materials, manufacture and educational approach.
Likewise, in this submission of proposals, the students had to focus on the reality of the Canary Islands, adding to the challenge a component of local identity and relevance to solve global problems from a regional perspective.
Nine teams worked on different topics, all related to renewable energies. Among all the proposals presented, the most relevant ones will have the opportunity to be improved and perfected within the framework of the international event Makeathon Smart Green Island 2025. There, the process of optimizing these demonstrators will give these students the opportunity to present their work and improve them hand in hand with experts and participants from around the world, being able to combine these, for now proposals, in sustainable solutions on a global scale.
